  1. Script. I write the first-3-seconds hook, the body, the CTA. I tie it to a trend or evergreen theme.
  2. Storyboard. Frame-by-frame breakdown — what's in frame, which text overlays, music.
  3. Production. Depending on budget — either your SMM person shoots on iPhone following my brief, or my Kyiv-based videographer team plugs in.

The largest Ukrainian brands operate here side by side (Rozetka, monobank, Kyivstar, PrivatBank, Silpo, EVA), along with hundreds of mid-sized companies, thousands of startups and tens of thousands of local businesses — from cafés on Khreshchatyk to beauty salons in Obolon. The audience is the most affluent and demanding in the country: a Kyiv Instagram user sees 200+ brands a day and subconsciously filters out anything that doesn't grab them in the first 2 seconds. If your SMM isn't built as a system — you're simply burning budget.

There's no universal stack. Each platform has its own audience, format and role in the funnel. Here's how I treat each of the five core platforms for the Kyiv market:

  • Instagram. The number one universal B2C platform in Kyiv. Feed for atmosphere and social proof, Reels for reach, Stories for trust and conversion. Reels are the top growth driver in 2025–2026: the algorithm generously gives reach to new brands that produce short vertical videos with a trending hook.
  • TikTok. Fastest growth in Kyiv among creative and younger audiences. The Kyiv TikTok scene picks up global trends instantly — an advantage for brands that can improvise. Works for FMCG, fashion, EdTech, mobile apps.
  • Facebook. Still critical for b2b, real estate, financial services, the 35+ audience. In Kyiv, Facebook is the channel for «adult decisions»: buying an apartment, opening a business, choosing a doctor.
  • LinkedIn. Kyiv is Ukraine's largest LinkedIn market. A mandatory platform for b2b SaaS, IT agencies, consulting, employer branding. First-person content from the owner + content from the company = double coverage.
  • YouTube. A long-term investment. Shorts for fast reach + long-form video for deep expertise. Particularly effective for EdTech, fintech, b2b SaaS that sells expertise.

I don't recommend «running all 5 platforms at once» to most clients — it's a resource drain. Better to focus on 2–3 platforms with one as the main driver. The rest — either organic cross-posting or activation in later stages.

What the SMM launch and run process looks like — step by step

I work via a transparent process all my clients have gone through. Each stage has a concrete deliverable you can see. No «we post and show results in 6 months».

Total launch cycle is 4–6 weeks. If you have a deadline (e.g., opening a venue in Podil or launching a new SaaS), we discuss an expedited format with first content live in week 3. It's less strategic but sometimes the business situation demands speed.

How much SMM in Kyiv costs

Price depends on scope, not geography — a Kyiv or Odesa client pays the same rates. Approximate tiers:

  • Basic package. One platform (typically Instagram or TikTok), 12–16 content units a month, basic stories, business-hours community management. Suitable for a small local Kyiv business.
  • Standard package. 2–3 platforms (Instagram + TikTok + Facebook), full stories feed, Reels production, basic Meta Ads, metrics dashboard. The most popular choice among my Kyiv clients.
  • Premium package. 4–5 platforms including LinkedIn and YouTube, full content studio, active Meta Ads, 7/7 community management, founder personal brand on LinkedIn.

Worth a separate note: if you order SMM together with branding, web development, Google Ads or email marketing — the combined package is cheaper than the sum of separate services. The result is also better, because everything is built in unified logic without endless contractor handoffs.

Common mistakes Kyiv companies make in SMM — and how to avoid them

Over 15 years of work with Kyiv brands I've seen dozens of cases where businesses burned hundreds of thousands of UAH on SMM with no results. Here are the recurring mistakes:

  • Community management as an afterthought. A reply to a comment after 3 days = a lost client. The Kyiv audience is used to fast service — monobank replies in 2 minutes, you reply in 2 days. The conclusion is obvious.
  • Hiring a freelancer with no brief. «We found a cheap SMM person, let them post» — in 90% of cases this ends after 3 months with no result. Senior strategy + middle execution always beats middle execution alone.
  • SMM disconnected from the product. SMM detached from website UX, branding and product is a marketing tool with no engine. The content brought a person to a confusing site — conversion is zero.
