Chernivtsi is a city of about 265 thousand, yet with a cultural density that resembles the capitals of much larger countries. Austro-Hungarian heritage, the UNESCO-listed Residence of Bukovynian and Dalmatian Metropolitans (today the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University), Bukovynian Secession facades on Olha Kobylianska Street, Turkish Square, the Opera and Ballet Theatre — none of this is decoration. It is the context in which your brand lives. A local brand here cannot be generic. Tourism, European-format cafes, Carpathian family wineries, education (the National University, Bukovynian State Medical University), light industry, IT teams from the Chernivtsi IT Cluster — each segment has its own audience and logic. A universal template does not work. What works is research, precise positioning, and design that holds those decisions over time.
The standard package covers positioning, naming if needed, the logo in all variations (primary, horizontal, vertical, mark, monochrome, inverse), a typography system, a color palette in HEX, RGB, CMYK, and Pantone, graphic patterns, key media, and a 40-80 page brandbook. I work in Adobe Illustrator (logo and vector), Photoshop (raster mockups), InDesign (print media, brandbook, packaging), and Figma (digital interfaces, presentations). I choose the tool to fit the task, not the other way around.
I deliver all source files: AI, EPS, PDF, PNG, SVG, INDD, and the Figma project. The client becomes the full owner of the design. This is a non-negotiable position — without it the work does not start.
Cafes on Kobylianska, boutiques near the Town Hall, hotels on Soborna, restaurants on Universytetska — these are not the same task even when they look similar from the outside. A cafe next to the National University talks to a student — speed, price, social media rhythm. A cafe in a historic quarter for tourists and locals who value quiet talks about tradition, craft, the link to Bukovynian coffee culture. One logo will not cover both tasks.
I start every project with a detailed brief and a live conversation with the founder. 60-90 minutes of dialogue gives more than 20 pages of forms. Then comes Chernivtsi and Bukovyna market research, competitor analysis, positioning, concept, and full system development. Everything is documented.
The Carpathian foothills and Bukovyna have a winemaking tradition that is being rediscovered today through small family wineries. I have worked with several such brands and I know the specifics: the product sells not only in Chernivtsi but through specialty stores in Kyiv, Lviv, and on export to Poland and Romania. A brand must carry the story of the place yet read on a shelf next to international wines. Labels are produced in InDesign with proper CMYK, dielines, and preflight for the printer. The Chernivtsi IT Cluster, product teams, outsourcing studios — branding works differently in this segment. Less about the emotion of place, more about clarity, technology, and international readability. The logo has to live on GitHub, LinkedIn, and in international media. The palette has to handle dark and light themes. Typography must support Cyrillic and Latin equally well. I build these requirements in from day one.
Education brands are their own category. The National University and the Bukovynian State Medical University are large established institutions with their own identity. But around them are education startups, courses, language schools, children's academies — they need a modern brand that respects academic tradition without looking like yet another version of an old logo.
