Chernihiv is an industrial center of Polissia with a strong food, textile and timber sector. For Novozavodsky district manufacturers, quality print is part of the product standard: a label with a barcode error means the run gets returned, a tag with bad CMYK means a complaint from an export partner. I've been preparing press files for 15+ years, delivered 130+ projects and work at the prepress level with print shops in Chernihiv and Kyiv.
Each file goes through a three-stage audit. Stage one — Preflight in Adobe InDesign or Acrobat: bleed check (3-5 mm standard), fonts converted to outlines, image resolution control, black overprint, PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4 profile. Stage two — a digital proof exposing color shifts. Stage three — contract proof at the print shop. Only after the client signs the proof does the run go live.
Food is a special category. The label has to include ingredients, nutrition facts, shelf life, storage conditions, barcode, production date, brand mark, producer contacts and certification marks. Ukrainian DSTU regulates all of this, and for EU export Regulation 1169/2011 adds extra rules. I prepare files in two versions — for the thermal-transfer printer on the production line and for the offset run for gift editions. I align with the technologist and logistics lead.
For timber companies it's vital to have batch passports, EU export markings (EUTR, FSC, PEFC), pallet tags, timber and MDF/HDF catalogues for distributors. I build the files for cardboard, laser-engraved plywood, thermal paper. I align colors across corporate site, packaging and trade-show promo so the brand reads identically in Chernihiv, Gdansk and Kosice.
Multi-page print is its own art. In InDesign I build the grid, control hyphenation, kill orphan lines, align typography with the brandbook. For manufacturer catalogues I add infographics, technical drawings, spec tables. For distributor decks — a separate format focused on margin and logistics. All files are delivered in editable INDD so your in-house marketer can update prices on their own.
Start with a free 30-minute Zoom call or a meeting at a downtown Chernihiv cafe. I fix scope, material types, deadline and give a fixed price in the proposal. No hidden stages — press preparation is always priced separately. I take care of communication with the print shop: you receive a finished run, not a «folder of files and further adventures».
